Aloha Scholarship Applicant,

     'O Ka'ū Kākou (OKK) is proud to sponsor scholarships for the 2025-2026 school year.  Scholarships will be offered to high school or home-schooled graduating seniors and to undergraduate college students.  Individual scholarship awards are $2,000 ($1,000.00 per semester) for students enrolled full-time at any accredited trade school, 2-year or 4-year college to assist with tuition costs.  

     ELIGIBILITY:  Applicants must be current residents of Ka'ū district, or must be claimed as a dependent whose parent or legal guardian's principal residence remains in the district of Ka'ū.

     Please thoroughly complete the application as requested and carefully follow all instructions. Incomplete applications will not be considered.  Application scoring criteria is in the section below.

     Online/electronic applications are acceptable - please click the "Apply Online Now" button at the bottom of this page.  Online applications must be submitted no later than MARCH 31, 2025.

     For applicants wishing to apply via print and mail in lieu of applying online, an application is available for you to download (click "Download Application" at the bottom of this page).  Paper applications must be postmarked on or before the DEADLINE of MARCH 31, 2025.

Late submissions will not be considered!

For previous scholarship recipients who wish to apply again:

      Students who have previously received an OKK scholarship are welcome to apply again.  There is a special abbreviated application for repeat applicants only.  Previous scholarship recipients who have not sent their requested mahalo letter to OKK may not be considered for additional funding.  Previous recipients can access the repeat application by clicking the box below:

SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION SCORING CRITERIA:

For first-time applicants, 0-5 points will be given for each of these categories:

 

  • Application Completeness

  • Letters of Recommendation

  • Leadership and Extra-curricular Activities

  • Community Service and Volunteerism

  • Work/employment experience

  • Academic Strength (GPA/SAT score)

  • Honors and Awards

  • Essay #1 Career Goals and Aspirations

  • Essay #1 Future plans to improve life in Ka'ū

  • Essay #2 Volunteer/Civic Experience

  • Essay #2 Give back plans and goals for the decade after completing higher education

  • Essays:  General grammar, spelling, punctuation, complete sentences, etc.

 

The Scholarship Committee will conduct and complete a review of all applications by mid-April.  Scholarship recipients will be notified via email no later than April 30, 2025.
